As the next edition of The Wetherbridge goes out today celebrating talent, community and timeless spirit, it is no coincidence that it reaches your inboxes on another important occasion. My mother, who so many of you met last year at the Grand Opening in October, celebrates a very special birthday today. Gratitude never truly expresses what our parents give us, but I know that I have been given one of the best mothers a daughter could ask for. What better tribute to a special person who I hold in the very highest regard than the talent, creativity and innovation of our school community here in New York.

This next edition is full of the enthusiasm and quality that drives our school community. With our school focus on service and social impact, news reaches you on our New York Food Bank Drive, championed by our Nursery class. The pride we take to deliver a quality and balanced curriculum is celebrated in articles written about the importance of role play, Mrs. Wordsmith and STEM in Grade 1. Our commitment to enriching experiences, is shown through a catalogue of photographs from local trips and our ever-growing Music offering here at WPNY. The connectivity we share with our Schools and Heads in the Alpha Plus Group is detailed in my article from the annual Leadership Conference in London. I am most enthused about the projects we have evolving with our brother and sister schools in London – November should be a connected and exciting month for educational trans-Atlantic exchanges – more to follow! Finally, our solid commitment to building community continues with both our Notable Neighbours and Carnegie Hill Neighbours initiatives. Armando Cabral is next up – see more inside!

This week we were visited by Professor Pat Preedy for three days who has brought with her years of experience and her passion for Early Years development. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and has commented on what a super school we have in Manhattan. She was particularly struck by its growing heart and soul (being nurtured by so many of the new and rich events and initiatives we have been piloting since September). Enjoy reading about the next two weeks of success across our school.
