I love this time of year and the holidays are certainly on the way! This month brings out the very best in our school community and the spirit of giving and generosity is in full force here at 7 East 96. Thank you to our Book Swap Team of Parents, especially Mrs Moody and Mrs Paillat who organised such a successful school event on 30th November. Plans for our inaugural Carols by Candlelight on 13th December are in place and thank you to our body of parent pioneers and special thanks to Mrs Jackie Martin for heading this up for the School. As Head, I’m delighted that we are supporting Memorial Sloan Kettering and that the WPNY children will spend much time and thought in donating care packages for the children at the hospital this December. Ms Haynes has lovingly created the Halstead Annual Coat Drive Box for the Carriageway and we shall be collecting donations for the Soup Kitchen in the Village which I attended on Saturday 1st December, run by our very own Chef Nancy – more details to follow! To further encapsulate the magic of the season all parents and staff came together on Monday 3rd December to decorate the School as a surprise for the children – enjoy the photographs. One of my favourite moments of the school year is the annual decorating of the WPNY Carriageway Holiday Tree- this is a special moment for everyone.
Celebrating all school partnerships is a key priority as we look to break for the holiday season and I’m mindful to note two connections that bring so much meaning to all we do at the School every day. Special Thanks to Carnegie Hill Neighbors and the local community initiatives that you have offered this term and going forward. I would also like to thank the St. George’s Society, both in terms of the educational and community outreach you offer across New York and for the loyalty and partnership we are fortunate to enjoy with the School. The British Bash on Thursday 29th November was an honour to attend again and celebrates all that we stand for – leadership, good sporting character, humour and grit were all celebrated in full force.
