‘Life begins when you start a garden’
Finding green space and a tranquil spot in our busy city is key to finding balance and a true sense of well-being. We were delighted to inaugurate and officially open our beautiful fifth floor garden at 7 East 96 on 7th July, on a gloriously sunny Manhattan evening. It is certainly a place of colour, beauty and inspiration and it will be enjoyed by all children, staff, and families for many years to come. We thank Eric Helvie (#erichelviestudio) who has transformed our Top Terrace with a stunning wall mural in the style of Bemelman’s ‘Madeline’. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who recalls with joy, when he says, ‘Earth laughs in flowers’ and it is Claude Monet himself who wrote, ‘I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers’. We are always told that if you have never experienced the joy of accomplishing more than you can imagine, then plant a garden! Inspiring words for our whole school community.
Do come and visit and you will be given a warm welcome and a chance to relax in a tranquil spot on the Upper East Side.
