Although the Spring Term is one of the shorter terms at the school, we always manage to include a vast range of learning activities and events for the children and for you, our families. February and March are some of the busiest months in the school calendar and I want to be sure that we are showcasing the events here, so that you can make the most of all to come. Tuesday this week rang in the Lunar New Year and the celebrations across the school were great fun and Chef Nancy’s special lunch of sweet and sour chicken, white rice and roasted broccoli was enjoyed by us all. If you and your family personally celebrate, may the Year of the Tiger be a happy and prosperous year, full of good fortune for you all. Black History Month is celebrated throughout the month of February, and we shall be pleased to showcase the fruits of our learning and hard work in our next Family Assembly on Friday 25th February.

Kindergarten and Grade 1 are off to the Guggenheim on Friday 11th February and on the same day, our Grade 2 class will visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to support their English and Geography topic on the Rainforests this term. The ‘Discover Your Instrument’ series continues and as you will see, Jesse Scheinin will introduce the Woodwind Family to all children across the school. Ms Gener is busy planning our third Whole School Spanish Day this year on 14th March where we shall celebrate Mexico in all its glory. We have cookery, geography and history workshops, dance, art, and surprise musical events planned for the duration of the day. We will be sure to showcase this incredible day in our final assembly on Friday 18th March.

Then, as you know we also have a range of parent events planned.  Antonio Ysursa, our talented photographer will be hosting a bijoux photography exhibition in the Founders’ Hall from 6pm on Thursday 3rd March ahead of his workshops with the children on the Friday. You are all most welcome to join us for a glass of fizz and a chance to catch up. We have our first parent Well-being Evening on Wednesday 9th March from 5.30pm at 7E96 and you will have received an email from the PA Chairs to advertise this wonderful evening, which includes talks from Rachel Henes (as recommended by Gina Malin on our Advisory Board) on mindful parenting and Liz Repking on the challenges of screen time and online safety and Mr Kinsey and Chef Nancy are also featured, talking briefly on healthy nutrition and coaching. More details will follow next week, and I hope all of you can come and join the team.

And who can forget ‘PJs For Pets Day’ tomorrow? Thank you for getting involved and organising the pyjamas and onesie’s and your $2 donations tonight. All proceeds go to the ASPCA, and this event is made more special as it is a pupil-led initiative, thanks to the School Council and the Eco-Warriors for 21-22. I am sure you agree that Eliza and Hudson spoke very well on their behalf last week at Family Assembly and we shall celebrate this further tomorrow at our 9am assembly. So, there are lots of events to note in your diaries and we hope to see you at the gatherings soon. The line up for the 11th March ‘WPNY’s Got Talent’ is impressive and will most likely take us two days to film this year! #growingconfidence.
